FORT MCCOY, Wis. (WKBT) – A huge milestone is coming up for soldiers at Fort Mccoy. The Army Reserve is celebrating its 113th birthday.

The reserve makes up about 20 percent of active soldiers. While we may not think of reserve units that way they do a large amount of the work.

Fort Mccoy also does their part by preparing the hundreds of thousands of soldiers who protect us each day.

“The bulk of the hundred thousand plus soldiers that come here to train each year are from the Army Reserve,” said Major General Darrell Guthrie.

The Army Reserve has been involved in armed conflicts since World War I.
