Hamilton Elementary students watch eclipse in La Crosse
2nd through 5th graders took part
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The skies cleared just in time for a group of local students to experience the eclipse.
Second through fifth grade students at Hamilton Elementary in La Crosse waited for the partial eclipse to hit the city Monday afternoon, with eclipse glasses in hand.
The solar lesson began with students watching live streams of the total eclipse in Oregon.
The event also capped off a week of lessons focused on the sun, moon and stars.
“We just built the curiosity and I’m hoping that this will follow through the rest of their lives to say, ‘Hey, I remember seeing this. I wonder what this is. I wonder, I wonder, I wonder.’ That’s the whole point of it,” said Hamilton Elementary 2nd Grade Teacher Katherine Erickson.
