Habitat for Humanity dedicates first home of 2020 to volunteers
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – One local family is finally unpacking their boxes thanks to nearly 200 volunteers.
La Crosse Area Habitat for Humanity is celebrating its first finished house of 2020.
As a special way to thank everyone who helped the organization and new home-owners hosted a dedication ceremony on Friday.
Volunteers started building the home last spring, and now a mother and her two daughters are getting ready to move in.
One organizer says projects like these impact more than the family receiving the home.
“It’s also for the volunteers and the people who come together. That sense of community and pride that it brings, I think is one of the many, many benefits beyond homeownership that Habitat offers to a community,” said Kahya Fox, Executive Director, La Crosse Area Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity is getting ready to build its 50th home and looking for two families.
The organization is accepting applications now, which are due Friday, March 20th.
It’s also hosting an informational session on Saturday.
