Habitat for Humanity La Crosse launches study to determine if expansion feasible

Results to be released this fall

A local nonprofit helping to bring affordable housing to those in need could soon be expanding their operations.

Habitat for Humanity La Crosse is launching a study to look at community support for a proposed $2-million dollar fundraising campaign.

Nonprofit leaders say they would like to meet an increasing demand for services.

“Because of the need in our community, we would like to be able to do more. So, for example, this year we went from 2 homes to 4 homes and we’d like to continue to expand those services, and so that capital campaign will kind of help us lay that groundwork to be more responsive to the housing needs of our community,” said Habitat for Humanity La Crosse Executive Director Kahya Fox.

Findings from the study will be presented this fall.

The nonprofit is looking to expand its Home Production, Critical Home Repair, ReStore, Material Salvaging, and Neighborhood ReNEW programs.
