Habitat for Humanity celebrates 20th Anniversary home

Winona-Fillmore counties branch holds house warming celebration

After a year of work, it was a time to celebrate for those that helped build a home for a member in their community.

The Habitat for Humanity in Winona celebrated their 20th anniversary home Saturday.

Volunteers attended the event and were recognized for their help.  Sharon Foss, of Winona, was presented with house keys during the event.  Foss, along with her family, contributed over 275 hours of work into the home.  She says it could not have been possible without the contributions from both her known and unknown community members.

“To see all of these people come together just for us is pretty amazing.  I know a lot of them.  Some of them I’ve never seen before, never met but they came to help us to build a home and that means a lot to me,” said Foss.

This is the 49th home built under the Habitat for Humanity Winona-Fillmore counties since 1994.
