‘Habitat for Heroes’ program celebrates new home, planning for future in La Crosse area

The 'Habitat for Heroes' committee is now working to develop new goals.

LA CROSSE AREA (WKBT) – A local veteran and his family are enjoying their new home thanks to a local effort.

The home was built through Habitat for Humanity La Crosse Area’s ‘Habitat for Heroes‘ program.

The first two goals of the committee were to encourage interaction, skill development and support for veterans through volunteerism and build homes for veterans and their families.

“This was really an exciting moment. And we really want to be able to continue to respond to the needs specifically centered around housing for veterans in our community,” Habitat for Humanity executive director Kahya Fox.

The ‘Habitat for Heroes’ committee is now working to develop new goals.

A Veteran Housing Needs Survey is now underway to help with that effort.
