Gundersen launches new farmer’s market
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A new farmer’s market is bringing fresh produce to an underserved area of our community.
Gundersen Health System launched a market Thursday at the corner of South 6th Street and Farnam Street in La Crosse.
The market will be held on the last Thursday of every month this summer, with a group of 10 vendors providing locally-grown fruits and vegetables in a part of town that doesn’t have easy access to healthy food options.
“The Powell-Poage-Hamilton neighborhood doesn’t have a grocery store, so this is a good way to bring fresh food into the neighborhood and also for our employees,” said Gundersen Wellness Education Assistant Carrie Zimmerman.
Gundersen will also offer the market on July 27th and August 31st between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Organizers say they may extend it past August depending on the response.
