Gundersen Health System to administer Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine beginning Wednesday
LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – Starting Wednesday Gundersen Health System will begin administering its first 1,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
With all three vaccines on hand, it will be able to administer more than 1,700 doses this week.
For those who have teenagers, note that they will only be able to receive the Pfizer vaccine because it’s the only one approved for 16 and 17-year-olds.
Gundersen sets aside some of its Pfizer doses each week to ensure there’s enough for teens.
“We want to make sure they are appropriately scheduled for a Pfizer vaccine. Otherwise, if they were to come into the vaccine clinic and we were giving Johnson & Johnson or Moderna, we would have to turn them away,” said administrative director Roxanne Potts, RN.
Be aware that appointment times are filling up fast.
Those with a Gundersen MyChart account should check appointment availability often.
