Gundersen doctors in Winona stress importance of reading

Reach Out and Read effort is underway at Gundersen locations in Houston County, too

WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) – Local doctors are hoping that children get more than a clean bill of health during their next check-up.

The Reach Out and Read effort at Gundersen Health System in Winona emphasizes to parents the importance of reading in daily routines during visits.

Books should be a part of every day life cven for kids who aren’t reading by themselves, according to the program.

“Start early and start building that foundation children loving to read and getting in the habit of it,” said Gundersen pediatrician Dr. Vivian Rider.

The Reach Out and Read effort is underway at Gundersen locations in Houston County as well.
