Gundersen buys part of old CenturyLink building from Weber Group ‘to benefit local community’
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Gundersen Health System has bought part of the CenturyLink regional headquarters in downtown La Crosse from The Weber Group in what Gundersen CEO Scott Rathgaber described as a dovetailing of their ideals.
“Investments that provide opportunities for future local business expansion and benefit the community are core ideals for The Weber Group and Gundersen Health System,” Rathgaber said Tuesday of the health system’s purchase of three floors of the seven-story building in December.
“Our approach and vision are very similar,” Rathgaber said in a prepared statement, adding:
• “Leave this place better than we found it,” which is The Weber Group’s mantra.
• “We will enhance the health and well-being of our communities, while enriching every life we touch, including patients, families, and staff,” Gundersen’s vision statement.
Gundersen is developing plans on its use of the building.
“There is much to discuss, plan and finalize for the former CenturyLink building. More will be shared as these plans develop,” Rathgaber said.
“In the meantime, we share excitement for this chance to work together to expand investment in downtown La Crosse for continued economic growth in our city and in our region,” he said.
