Great River Road designated ‘All-American Road’
Road travels along Mississippi River from northern Minnesota to Gulf of Mexico
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A popular Vernon County road is getting a new honor.
The Great River Road was designated as an ‘All-American Road’.
The road follows along the Mississippi River.
It starts in northern Minnesota, through the La Crosse area on the way to the Gulf of Mexico.
More attention for the road could mean bigger things for the communities along road.
“I just think overall for the state of Wisconsin, it is going to mean so much more attention to this stretch of road and this beautiful part of the state. And we think it will bring in many more tourists and many more dollars into the state,” said Wisconsin secretary of transportation Craig Thompson.
It would take about 36 hours to drive the entire Great River Road.
