Great GROW Get Together celebrates garden education

LA CROSSE, (WKBT) – A family-friendly event celebrated garden education in local schools.

The inaugural Great GROW Get Together featured live music, carnival games, a silent auction, and raffles.

Money raised at the event goes to supporting GROW’s programming this school year.

GROW programming features six lessons throughout the school year.

Kids can get their hands dirty growing food in their school’s garden.

“The kids are learning about the foods in the garden, and they go right into the schools during lunchtime and look at the spread of delicious food from their garden and they’re just ready and willing to eat those foods,” says Curriculum Director Linda Vale.

GROW has gardens at eight La Crosse area schools.

The Great GROW Get Together was held outside of Pearl Street Brewery.
