Graphic novel artist meets with students in La Crosse

An award-winning writer is sharing his love of storytelling in La Crosse.

Gene Yang stopped at Central High School Tuesday to talk with students about his work.

Yang writes graphic novels about historical, as well as fictional topics.

Graphic novels present a story in comic strip format and are published as a book.

Yang hopes that embracing reading is important in a world with so many ways to get information.

“In an age when we have all sorts of different kinds of media that are coming at us, and I think that in general, that’s a wonderful thing, more information is always better than less information. But reading is still a very important way in which human beings learn,” said graphic artist artist Gene Yang.

Yang will meet with students again Tuesday.
