Gov. Walker to propose significant tax cuts in State of the State
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker plans to propose “significant” income and property tax cuts in his State of the State address.
Walker’s spokeswoman Jocelyn Webster said Wednesday that state tax collections are significantly higher than anticipated, allowing Walker to propose the tax cuts. She says details of his plans will be unveiled in the speech on Jan. 22.
Updated tax collection numbers are expected to be released any day. Webster says tax collections are hundreds of millions of dollars above previous estimates.
She says Walker is working closely with Republican legislative leaders on his tax cut proposals. Webster says one area he is looking at is adjusting income tax withholding tables to keep more money in paychecks.23957408
