Gov. Walker designates May 1 as Day of Prayer throughout Wis.
La Crosse area leaders meet at Mayoral Prayer Breakfast
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Governor Scott Walker designated May 1 as a Day of Prayer throughout Wisconsin.
Walker made the announcement during the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast in Milwaukee.
“This is a very moving event,” said Governor Walker. “It is so powerful to have people from different faiths united through prayer to call for peace, and to also support and remember the brave men and women around the world who have sacrificed so much for the freedoms we enjoy today.”
In La Crosse, Mayor Tim Kabat joined other area leaders to honor and pray for our area’s elected officials, educational leaders, emergency responders, members of the military, and business leaders.
The event was held as part of the National Day of Prayer, which was established by Congress in 1952.
