Golf coach arrested while driving team to meet
FAIRFIELD, Iowa (AP) — A high school golf coach in eastern Iowa has been charged with drunken driving and child endangerment after being stopped while taking her team to a meet.
A statement posted on the Fairfield Community School District’s website says girls golf coach Susie Steinbeck was pulled over Tuesday morning by the Iowa State Patrol.
Lee County Jail administrator John Farmer says Steinbeck was arrested and charged with one count each of operating while intoxicated and child endangerment and remained in custody on Wednesday afternoon.
The district says it made arrangements to get the golf team to its meet in Keokuk and that it’s investigating the incident for possible further action.
The district says Steinbeck also teaches computer applications in a district middle school.
It wasn’t clear whether Steinbeck has an attorney.
