Going out in pink: UWL police officer raises money for breast cancer
LA CROSSE (WKBT)–October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and there’s one UW La Crosse officer going all out to help find a cure.
Officer Dave Pehl has helped raise money for breast cancer by having a little fun in a pink tutu.
Breast cancer awareness is a personal cause for Officer Pehl since both his mother and aunt were diagnosed with cancer.
His mother survived breast cancer for 32 years.
Officer Pehl is retiring this spring, but he has no plans to stop the fight or take off the tutu.
“There’s a good chance that I’ll be back as a retiree next year because the fact of the matter is that breast cancer will still be around,” said Pehl. “We haven’t found a cure and there’ll still be awareness out there.”
Officer Pehl has raised over $3,000 during his fundraisers.
