“Glow In The Deke” participants light up night sky at UWL

Thousands lit up Veteran’s Memorial Stadium at UW-L for the 4th annual Glow in the Deke run on Saturday.

The event is hosted by the Hope Lives Foundation and is in honor of Derrick Kroll who died from cancer five years ago. He was Director of Operations at the Boys and Girls Club for years.

“This means everything to us that were close to Derrick Kroll, to those that are affected by cancer and the healthy lifestyle program in La Crosse for the five boys and girls club. So this event brings the community together to support a bunch of different causes for healthy lifestyles,” said Garrett Jerue, co-founder of Hope Lives Foundation.

Organizers are expecting to raise close to $65,000 at the event. The money raised goes toward scholarships for cancer survivors, the Hope Lives mentorship/survivorship support program, and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater La Crosse.
