Giving voice to those with memory loss

A local choir is giving voice to those in need. The Coulee Region Giving Hearts Choir is giving those diagnosed with memory loss a chance to get out and sing.

The choir is based on the Giving Voice Initiative of Minneapolis-St. Paul and is the second of its kind in Wisconsin.

The group has already performed at Rotary Lights and the holiday fair this year.

Members of the choir said they can see the impact this has on those affected with memory loss.

“They just seem to blossom when we start singing. They enjoy it. They open up and once we get to know each other, we’ve become friends,” said choir member Roger Bjorge.

If you would like to see the choir, it will be performing its Christmas concert on Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. in the Gundersen Rasmus Center. Admission is free but donations are accepted.
