Girls from 7 area female Scouts BSA Troops to test skills at Camp Decorah

Girl Scouts

HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) — Girls, parents and leaders from the seven area female Scouts BSA Troops (formerly Boy Scouts of America) will participate in a variety of outdoor activities Saturday at Camp Decorah in Holmen.
The Scouts will test their skills by solving problems related to first aid, navigation, fire building and other outdoor activities. The also will go ice fishing and sledding, as well as trying their hands at snow sculpture.
The finale will be an outdoor cooking competition.
Organizing the event are the leaders from Scouts BSA female troops that were formed after the Boy Scouts of America welcomed girls into the program in 2019.
The Gateway Area Council includes 28 girls in seven troops and 90 girl Cub Scouts who will join Scouts BSA during the next few years.
In the Scouts BSA program, youth learn how to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature that ignites their curiosity and invites exploration. They focus on character development, leadership development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.
