Girl abducted following father’s murder
Canadian authorities expand search into US
BLAIRMORE, Alberta — Canadian authorities are searching for a missing 2-year-old girl after she was taken from a home where her father was found murdered.
The body of Terry Blanchette was found Monday morning and his daughter, Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette, has been missing ever since, according to the Associated Press.
Investigators initially issued an Amber Alert for the province of Alberta and then expanded it to British Columbia, Saskatchewan and the state of Montana.
So far, police have not identified any suspects.
According to the Calgary Sun, the girl was supposed to be dropped off at her mother’s house on Sunday.
Terry Blanchette and Hailey’s mother, Cheyenne Dunbar, share custody.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reports that investigators believe the suspect took off in a white van.
Investigators say the suspect had a lengthy head start considering Terry Blanchette’s body was not discovered until eight hours after the little girl was taken.
