Gate installation for La Crosse ramps pushed back

New tentative date for installation July 18th

The installation of the new gates for downtown La Crosse’s parking ramps is delayed by at least a week.

The gates were set to be installed Monday, but necessary software updates is pushing those plans back. The signage for the ramps needs to be finished as well to show the correct updated parking prices.

As the re-installation does draw closer though, the Municipal Parking Utility Board would like to remind people they will not overlook vandalism of the new machines.

“As I’ve said before, if they catch you breaking a sign or an arm you’re going to jail. They’re not even going to question you, they’re just going to say, ‘Okay, let’s go.’ So, we’re hoping that persuades some people to leave them alone,” said La Crosse Parking Utility Coordinator Jim Flottmeyer.

The new tentative installation date is Monday, July 18th, but the Parking Utility Coordinator says the city should know for sure by the end of this week.
