Garden brings learning to early education

Some of the area’s youngest students are getting the chance to learn about where their food comes from.

The Coulee Children’s Center received a grant allowing for the creation of new garden space in La Crosse.

The new addition will allow for farm to early care and education lessons for students.

Much like their older counterparts in grade schools and the farm to school program, the gardens give a chance for the kids to grow.

“So part of the big thing with early childhood is we are trying to educate children on all aspects of development and part of that is healthy development,” said Angela Wells, Child Care Program Director of the Coulee Children’s Center.

The students won’t just be learning about the garden, they will help plant in the garden as well.
