Funding, design approved for new UW-La Crosse Science Lab
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Wisconsin State Building Commission approved Wednesday the final design and funding for a new UW-La Crosse Science Lab project.
The construction of the $82 million Science Lab is estimated to generate more than $157 million in economic activity and create roughly 1,400 jobs.
It will be located just north of the existing Cowley Hall on the UWL campus.
The lab will provide additional space, improved energy efficiency, and modern accommodations for teaching and research.
“This investment will transform the UWL campus and create hundreds of quality jobs for hardworking families in western Wisconsin,” said State Senator Jennifer Shilling in a statement.
The current UWL Science building was originally built in 1963.
Construction on the new Science Lab building is expected to begin next April and be completed in 2018.
