Fume hood donation benefits Holmen Police Department
HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) — A donation is helping an area police department to do their jobs without added travel.
The Holmen Police Department received a donation from O’Brien and Associates for a fume hood.
The hood is used to test drugs safely by limiting exposure to toxic fumes.
The department was hoping to buy one last year, but budget issues forced the department to put it on hold.
The increasing drug problem created a need the department couldn’t ignore.
“Knowing that we have we have this and that it’s vented, it’s stuff that we’ve never had to think about two, three four years back and with in the last few years it’s something that we have to look at,” said Holmen Police Chief Shane Collins.
Previously, officers traveled to La Crosse to use their fume hood to perform tests.
