Four La Crosse County residents die of COVID-19 in two days
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Four La Crosse County residents have died of COVID-19 in the past two days, health director Jen Rombalski said Friday, as case increases among healthy populations spread to those who are more vulnerable to disease.
“Our hearts really go out to the families of those individuals, to each and every one of those individuals that we have lost to COVID-19,” Rombalski said.
The deaths bring the total number of residents who have died due to COVID-19 to 18 — the majority of which were in long-term care facilities, she said.
The cases are currently in more middle-aged populations, she said. Part of that is driven by social gatherings.
That increase is part of the reasoning behind Friday’s advisory limiting public gatherings that aligns with the state emergency order issued earlier this month.
