Fort McCoy opens its doors to visitors.
FORT MCCOY, Wis. (WKBT) — For six hours on Saturday the public could tour and learn about Fort McCoy’s commemorative area, which includes an equipment park, Veterans Memorial Plaza, and artifacts in World War II era buildings and the History Center which date back to the fort’s founding in 1909.
“It’s a really neat experience to see, you know, some of our veterans come back to Fort McCoy to walk through the buildings and see some of the facilities that they may have trained in over the years,” said Bill Coppernoll, the deputy public affairs officer for Fort McCoy.
The fort will also be open to visitors on Friday July 27 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A valid photo ID is needed to get in.
