Food Drive Fridays exceed expectations
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Food Drive Fridays began on April 17 and were held each Friday for seven consecutive weeks.
The events were coordinated by the La Crosse County Health Department along with the assistance of the Hunger Task Force, local Rotary groups, iFeed, and Rotary Lights.
In the seven-week period, 68,189 pounds of canned goods and $309,586.12 was collected to help Coulee Region families in need. The drive began with a generous community pledge of a $25,000 match and ended with Firefighter’s Credit Union’s match of an additional $50,000.
The La Crosse County Health Department extended a thank you to area media for getting the message out to the public and also to community members that donated.
Pat Stephens said, “A personal thank you to each of you that helped to make this possible.”
