Folks buy and sell gently used outdoor gear at La Crosse’s outdoor gear swap

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Hundreds of people showed up to get geared up at the first Outdoor Gear Swap at the former K-Mart building in La Crosse.

The event allows people to sell gently-used outdoor gear they no longer want, to people who do.

“This is our pilot year, but we’d really like to keep this going in the community,” Keachen Abing of the La Crosse Ski Patrol said. “So this year we’re really learning a lot, getting it out into the community and letting people know that it’s happening, but we’d love for it to continue. “So if community support is strong, if the interest is there we’d love for this to continue in the future.”

Organizers say that several groups coming together made this event possible.

Three-Sixty Real Estate Solutions donated the former K-Mart space.

Groups like the ski patrol, the Outdoor Recreation Alliance, and the Mountain Bike Team brought it all together.

Proceeds from the sales go directly to the organizations that helped put the event on.

If you missed out Saturday, the swap is back on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
