Focus on Energy grant to help Westby Co-Op Creamery

A grant will help a local business to upgrade their facility.

Westby Co-Op Creamery received a $23,000 grant from Focus on Energy.

The money will go towards replacing part of the Creamery’s steam boiler.

The boiler is used for cooking and processing milk, as well as cleaning equipment.

The upgrade will save the business more than $21,000 a year.

The savings are important to more than just workers in the Creamery.

“With the dairy prices and everything they way they are right now, anything we can do to help them, help our bottom line is greatly appreciated,” said Hassan Fortnay, Westby Co-Op Creamery Maintenance Supervisor.

The current boiler was put in place in 1978.
