Cold Today With Mostly To Partly Cloudy Skies
Record Cold Possible For Some Tonight
Monday’s Forecast High: 35F / Tonight’s Low: 19F…
It was a cold weekend with highs only in the 30s both days. On top of that, it was a snowy Sunday with snow amounts ranging from a 1/2″ to just over 2″ in most spots. 2.0″ officially was reported at the La Crosse airport on Sunday, the first measurable snow of the season and also a record amount for Oct. 25th. The old record was just a trace. A little more snow fell overnight, bringing the storm total up to 2.3″ at the airport.
Some flurries could linger early this morning, especially south and east of La Crosse. Otherwise, expect mostly to partly cloudy skies and another cold day. Highs will only be in the mid 30s. NW winds 5-15 mph will cause wind chills in the teens this morning.
Partly cloudy and unseasonably cold tonight. In fact, record cold will be possible for some. Lows will be in the mid-upper teens to around 20F for most. The record low for Oct. 27th in La Crosse is 17F, set in 1976. My forecast low for La Crosse is 19F, so it will be close.
Mostly sunny, but still cold Tuesday with highs in the mid-upper 30s. Partly cloudy and warmer Wednesday with highs in the mid-upper 40s.
Looking Ahead… Dry with a mix of sun and clouds Thursday and Friday. Highs in the mid-upper 40s. Breezy and warmer for Halloween Saturday, with highs in the mid 50s under partly sunny skies. Partly cloudy and breezy Sunday with highs closer to 50F. Don’t forget Daylight Saving Time comes to an end early Sunday morning… so be sure to set your clocks BACK (Fall Back) one hour when you head to bed Saturday night. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy next Monday and Tuesday, with seasonable highs in the mid 50s.
Have a good Monday and a great week ahead! -Bill Graul
