Flu vaccine clinics in La Crosse stay busy ahead of flu season
Traditional flu season usually peaks in December
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Flu shot clinics in La Crosse are staying busy ahead of the traditional flu season.
Doctors at Mayo Clinic Health System say about 5,000 people are now vaccinated at the system’s clinic.
And doctors say they are seeing less people skipping flu shots during regular visits.
Getting a flu shot is important for you and for the community.
“The biggest reason we recommend the flu vaccine is that the more of us who get the vaccine means the flu virus has a harder time spreading in the community,” said Mayo Clinic Health System’s Dr. Zachary April.
Gundersen Health System officials say 1,500 people stopped at their flu shot clinic during the first two days of operation last week.
