Flu activity remains low in Wisconsin, nationwide
Doctors urge that it isn't too late to get the vaccine
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – While cases of COVID- 19 continue to climb, activity is extremely low for the flu.
The number of cases remains minimal across much of the country.
In our area, Gundersen and Mayo Clinic Health Systems say they have yet to see a case of the flu this year. A doctor with Mayo Clinic says the effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 is having a beneficial side effect.
“Many of these virus are transmitted the same way that the sars-coronavirus type two is transmitted. So the measures that we are recommending that people put in place to decrease their risk of getting COVID- 19 also help to decrease the transmission of these other viruses,” said Mayo Clinic’s Nipunie Rajapakse, M.D.
If you haven’t gotten your flu vaccine yet, doctors stress that it is not too late.
