First annual event brings the community and local veterans together

Next week two populations of the community will come together as one.

The first annual Coulee Region Veterans Week kicks off on Friday.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Eric Brikercher, the week is part of community efforts to recognize veterans for more than just their uniforms.

“We are people first. I think sometimes veterans are seen as…defined but their uniform. In reality, I’m Eric, who happens to be in he army, and one day that uniform will come off, and one day I’ll be Eric, a member of the Coulee Region, so want we want to do is emphasize that we are community members first, among other community members who are very proud of our service.”

Veterans will end the week building a home for a fellow veteran through the Veterans Give Back program.
