FIRST ALERT FORECAST: A slow warmup begins. -Erik Dean
After a chilly Friday & Saturday, highs today will be near the freezing mark.
DISCUSSION: After seeing temperatures in the teens & 20s on the high end, we are starting to trend above freezing as we head into the new week. Some places will see that trend as early as today. Some of you will stay below freezing and will get out on Monday.
So Eau Claire, you’ll stay at 31° which is the same story in Viroqua and Volk Field. Everyone else in the News 8 Now Viewing Area will be at or slightly above freezing which is definitely better than what we have seen over the past couple of days.
Here is how we get to our high end; we will start off with highs in the mid teens. As we head into the 10 AM timeframe, temperatures will go into the upper teens – low 20s. The clouds will decrease throughout the afternoon hours which will allow the temperatures to go near freezing in the mid – late afternoon hours. Once we lose the “heating of the day”, we will drop back into the mid – upper 20s by the evening hours. This is critical because anything that has had a chance to melt may refreeze. This is especially true with bridges & overpasses.
THE NEXT 8 DAYS As we head into Thanksgiving Day, I am not ruling out a chance of precipitation but otherwise we will stay Mostly Cloudy with highs in the upper 30s. As we head into next weekend, we will see partly cloudy skies with highs in the upper 30s. All in all, if you have travel plans this week for the Thanksgiving holiday across the Coulee Region, I give it 2 thumbs up.
Enjoy your Sunday
