Firehouse 5k raises money for Children’s Miracle Network

Race organizers hope it promotes having an active and healthy lifestyle

A few dozen people enjoyed the sunshine Saturday morning at the 6th annual Onalaska Fire Department Firehouse 5k.

Race organizers hope it promotes having an active and healthy lifestyle while at the same time raising money for local kids. Most of the money raised on Saturday goes to the Children’s Miracle Network.

Organizers say these fundraisers can go a long way to helping out families.

“It helps us relieve some of those financial burdens on the families so they can focus more on the care of their child and letting them be inclusive by funding things like specialized care so they can be with other parents that are dealing with the same issues that they are,” said Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Program Specialist Rena Cash.

About 60 people took part in Saturday’s 5k.
