Fire crews respond to fire near LP tank at Melrose-Mindoro High School

MELROSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The Melrose Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire call at 5:31 a.m. Tuesday, August 4 near Melrose-Mindoro High School.

Fire crews found large flames near the 18,000 gallon LP tank next to the school on Highway 108. Mutual aid was requested from Farmington Fire and Tenders in Black River Falls, Sparta, and Taylor Fire Department. The fire was on/in a vaporizer that was hooked up to the LP tank, approximately 70 feet away. Crews were able to reduce the flames and close the main valve to the vaporizer and put out the fire, according to a Facebook post by the Melrose Volunteer Fire Department.
