Fifth La Crosse County resident dies of COVID-19, nearly 20% of tests positive
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Coulee COVID-19 Collaborative reported Wednesday that a fifth La Crosse County resident has died of COVID-19.
There was no information about the individual released.
The report shows an average of 45 cases per days in the last seven days and says 19.8% of tests in the past seven days came back positive; however, it notes that there may be a lag time in reporting negative test results during peak activity.
There are a total of 1,119 active cases in La Crosse County as of Tuesday and 82 people have been hospitalized.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 35 new cases Wednesday out of a total of 282 tests and three additional hospitalizations.
New cases include:
- One person under age 9;
- Eight people aged 10-19;
- Nine people in their 20s;
- Four people in their 30s;
- Two people in their 40s;
- Two people in their 50s;
- Five people in their 60s;
- One person in their 70s;
- Two people in their 80s; and,
- One person in their 90s.
