Festival Food’s Turkey Trot moves route
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — If you’re participating in this year’s Festival Foods Turkey Trot, you’ll be starting and ending at a new location.
The annual Thanksgiving morning run and walk typically goes through downtown La Crosse but the route is being changed because of ongoing construction.
The new route will start at the Omni Center in Onalaska and then make a loop through the city’s neighborhoods before ending back at the center.
Festival Foods Turkey Trot director Jessica Robey said the new route will be a permanent change and hopes choosing a residential setting will spark more community interest.
“Hopefully the continuity of having the race in the same location, we’re hoping that the neighbors will come out, they’ll cheer on the runners. Year after year, we’d like them to be out there really making this the community event that it is,” Robey said.
