Family Friendly Zone returns for fourth straight year
Alcohol and tobacco free site available for Maple Leaf Parade goers
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — If the big Maple Leaf Parade is part of your schedule for fest the Family Friendly Zone is back as an option.
The area across from Festival Foods on Copeland Avenue will be designated as alcohol and tobacco free for the fourth straight year.
The site will have bleachers for anyone to watch and some space for chairs. There will also be students from UW-La Crosse providing games for the kids.
“It was really nice to provide a location where families can bring their kids and enjoy the parade and be out front and not be exposed to the drinking culture,” said Catherine Kolkmeier, of the Changing the Culture of Risky Drinking Behavior Coalition.
No tickets or wristbands are needed. Organizers are hoping to have at least 1,000 people take advantage of the space.
