Family celebrates 6-month birthday of preemie at Arcadia Mayo Clinic
ARCADIA, Wis. (WKBT) — Six months ago, an Arcadia mother went into labor prematurely. Tuesday, she and a team at Mayo Clinic Health System in Arcadia celebrated the baby girl’s birth.
At just 24 weeks pregnant, Maria Aguilar went into labor. The hospital team delivered her daughter.
“Everybody found their role and found either it was doing vitals or giving medicine or getting supplies, and coordinating with IT. and all of our experience pulled together in that time they needed it the most,” said Mayo Sue Schlesser, a licensed practical nurse at the facility.
Aguilar doesn’t speak English. A translator helped her explain what was going on the day she delivered.
Tuesday, they reunited for a six-month celebration, but Aguilar didn’t need a translator. It was clear she’s incredibly grateful for her healthy baby girl.
