Experts giving tax tips as tax season nears an end
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Tax season is coming to a close.
The deadline to file your 2017 taxes is next Tuesday, April 17. This year’s season was extended since the 15th is a Sunday and the 16th is Emancipation Day.
Wisconsin’s Department of Revenue is reminding filers of the deadline while giving tips to make filing easier. Officials recommend filers use the DOR’s self-service options online, call customer service if you have any questions, and you can find free help from some local tax experts if needed.
“If you want to discuss what you’re doing with your taxes we do free second looks always. So, any time that anybody wants to come in and talk about their taxes first,” said Tammy Pedersen Marker of H&R Block.
If you will not be able to finish filing your taxes by next Tuesday you can request an extension at IRS.gov.
