Ex-Wisconsin school worker accused of stealing iPads
RANDOM LAKE, WI (AP) — A former employee is accused of stealing about $180,000 worth of iPads and other tablet computers from the Random Lake School District.
Thirty-three-year-old Mark Ustby of Milwaukee is charged with two counts of felony theft. He had worked in the district’s technology information department.
According to a criminal complaint, Ustby allegedly stole the tablet computers over the past eight months and then sold them online.
Sheboyan Press Media reports district officials told investigators that Ustby abruptly resigned and that they were aware he was having money troubles.
After Ustby resigned, district officials found that hundreds of new and used tablet computers used by students were missing from Ustby’s office, along with a laptop computer.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Ustby was expected in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.
