Emergency medical skills for rural communities taught in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — College students from around the state are in La Crosse Friday to learn about skills for emergency medical situations.
The Wisconsin Academy for Rural Medicine taught students emergency skills like IV placement and airway management.
For students, the day is a great way to understand the medical skills needed in rural areas.
“So I might be a family practice physican, but I would also have to work in the emergency room or also work on the in patient hospital service at times,” said student Echko Holman.
Gundersen Health System hosted the event.
