Emergency doctors say patients shouldn’t avoid going to the ER

Doctors are seeing a small decrease in those coming into the ER at Mayo Clinic Health System

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Fewer people are going into the emergency room at a local hospital.

Doctors at Mayo Clinic Health System say slightly fewer patients than normal are coming in.

But they are seeing an increase of people with respiratory symptoms.

They say no matter what symptoms you have, you shouldn’t avoid going to the ER.

“If you’re having chest pains, or you’ve had an injury, if you think this is an emergency, we want you to come and be evaluated. We do not want anyone either suffering at home or having worse outcomes because they’re not seeking help early,” said Mayo Clinic Health System emergency physician Evan Small.

You should contact your primary care physician if you are concerned about other conditions that do not require immediate care.
