Benjamin M. Craig arrested in Duluth

The man who robbed Wells Fargo Bank on East Grand Avenue in Eau Claire on Friday was arrested at a hotel in Duluth, Minnesota on Saturday.

Eau Claire police received numerous tips that identified the suspect as 32-year-old Benjamin M. Craig and that he fled to the Duluth area.

An extraditable criminal arrest warrant from the bank robbery was issued for Craig. Eau Claire police worked with the Minnesota Bureau of criminal Apprehension and Duluth police to take Craig into custody.

Eau Claire police said Craig confessed to the robbery. He is currently being held in the St. Louis County, Minnesota jail awaiting extradition back to Eau Claire for the bank robbery charges.

Eau Claire police are asking for help identifying a suspect of a robbery at Wells Fargo at 204 East Grand Avenue on Friday morning.

Police said a white man, possibly in his 30’s, entered the bank alone and demanded money at about 10:25 a.m. He received an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank teller and then left the bank on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect was wearing a light-colored shirt, a black stocking cap, a black zip-up jacket and glasses. He is about 5’10” to 6′ tall and weighs about 240-260 pounds.

Eau Claire police are worked with the FBI to conduct multiple interviews. Members of Police Department’s Crime Scene Unit processed the scene for evidence.
