Eat Week kicks off in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A push for the community to eat locally has people exploring La Crosse’s best eateries.
The third annual Eat Week started Sunday.
The weeklong celebration highlights La Crosse’s local cuisine while also promoting other area businesses.
Throughout the week you can find specially priced meals and treats at over 25 local cafes, bistros, steakhouses and other area restaurants.
Organizers say it’s important to support and recognize La Crosse’s local offerings.
“It gives different restaurants and eateries downtown a chance to showcase their best items or new features and appeal to a crowd that maybe doesn’t usually come in,” said Kelsey Williams, chair of Eat Week.
Organizers are hoping the celebration will continue to grow in popularity and become a local tradition.
“We’re really hoping that this event continues to grow and perhaps reach the potential would come from out of town and come for this week and stay in a hotel and enjoy our restaurants,” said Robin Moses, executive director of Downtown Mainstreet.
At most of the restaurants, a donation box will also be available for people to donate food and hygienic products to area food pantries.
