Eagle viewing area conceptually approved
Board of Public Works approved plan as part of I-90 reconstruction
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A proposed eagle viewing area on La Crosse’s north side is coming closer to reality.
On Monday the Board of Public Works conceptually approved the plan which will be a part of the DOT’s reconstruction of exit three and parts of I-90.
The board plans to break the work on the site along the Mississippi located across from the Bridgeview Plaza into two phases.
Part of the plan includes figuring out what to do with the ‘La Crosse Players Statue’, making sure trees don’t block the view, and learning priorities from the north side business association.
“I think everyone wants to see a welcoming gateway to our community, but there’s definitely size constraints and width constraints because of the floodplain issues,” said La Crosse Interim Director of Planning Amy Peterson.
The engineering firm behind the design will come back to the board after incorporating the recommendations.
The I-90 project is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
