Potent System Brings Rain Tonight & Saturday

Expect periods of rain on Saturday. There could also be some t-storms during the afternoon and evening hours in some areas. Highs Saturday will be highly dependent on how close a warm front to our south gets. For now, I have us in the upper 40s (north) to low-mid 50s (far south). If the warm front should stay farther south, most areas will likely remain in the upper 40s. On the flip side, if the front tracks farther north, then most areas will easily climb into the 50s.

How far north the warm front lifts will also determine if we see any t-storms in our area. The closer the warm front gets, the better the chances for t-storms. Same goes for any chance for strong to severe storms in our area. As of midday Friday, I think the main severe threat will stay to our south over portions of Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Indiana. However, I cannot fully rule out isolated strong to severe storms in NE Iowa and far Southern Wisconsin. If we do see strong storms, hail would be the main threat. Stay tuned for updates as it becomes clearer how far north the warm front will lift.

Storm Prediction Center Severe Outlook For Saturday

With periods of rain likely tonight, Saturday and evening through Sunday morning… many areas could see rainfall totals in the .50″ to 1.00″ range, perhaps isolated amounts up to 1.25″. This could cause water levels on rivers and streams to rise… but most should remain below flood stages.

Soggy Weekend… But Nice Start To Next Week

Dry Monday and Tuesday. Lots of sun Monday with highs in the upper 50s, then partly sunny Tuesday with highs in the low-mid 50s. Isolated rain showers possible Wednesday with highs in the low-mid 50s. Slight chances for rain showers Thursday and Friday, with cooler highs closer to 50F. The rain showers could even mix with snow showers in spots during the overnight and early morning hours, when temps dip closer to freezing.

Have a good Friday and stay tuned for updates concerning the chance for any strong to severe storms on Saturday. -Bill Graul
