Drowning victim found in Lake Winona
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) – The body of a drowning victim was found in Lake Winona.
At approximately 12:20 pm on Wednesday, the Winona County dispatch received a 911 call for a paddle boarder who fell into the water and never resurfaced, according to the county’s sheriff’s office.
Multiple agencies responded with boats, including the Winona Fire Department and Dive Team, Pickwick Fire Department, Goodview Fire Department, and the DNR.
The body was found shortly before 3 pm the same day.
The name of the person has not been released.
Winona County Sheriff Ron Ganrude is stressing that people be responsible on the water and always wear a lifejacket.
